Adobe is putting the creative brief at the start of a connected workflow

Adobe’s creative agent is expanding across Firefly, Photoshop, Premiere and other Creative Cloud apps. It uses one brief to direct a connected piece of work across those applications.

The update

The assistant is moving into the tools where the work happens

Adobe announced a major expansion of its creative agent on 18 June. Firefly is becoming a more connected creative studio, while AI Assistant is rolling out in public beta across Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign and Frame.io.

The pitch is straightforward: a creative describes the result, and the assistant carries out a sequence of steps inside the relevant application. Adobe also plans to make parts of its creative toolkit available through ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini and Slack.

What changes

The agent can handle the production steps around generation

Independent demonstrations focused on the untidy work that surrounds a final asset. In Premiere, the assistant organised and renamed clips. In Photoshop, it could resize work for different formats. In Illustrator, it handled repeated layout changes and pre-flight checks.

Creative production includes naming, organising, checking and preparing. Handing off some of that work gives creatives more time to shape the direction and decide what is ready to leave the studio.

  • Use the brief to hold the direction across each application.
  • Hand off repeatable production steps with a clear result.
  • Keep the final selection and approval with the person responsible for the work.

The takeaway

Creative direction becomes part of the system

An assistant can complete several steps before anyone spots a vague instruction. The brief therefore needs more than a visual reference. It should include the purpose, the audience, the approved assets and the checks that define a finished result.

Creatives will get more from the assistant when they make those choices explicit without flattening the work. The agent can carry the process, while the person responsible still decides the direction and approves the result.
